A surprise guest moment changed the pace of the Aug. 20 Verzuz event featuring Joe and Donell Jones. During Joe’s set, 50 Cent joined him onstage alongside G-Unit associates Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda, giving the R&B-focused battle an unexpected hip-hop crossover.
The appearance came as Joe revisited Wanna Get to Know You, his 2003 collaboration with G-Unit. The group also performed Big Rich Town, the theme from the Power television series, which originally features Joe alongside 50 Cent. The segment became one of the night’s most notable guest appearances.
Donell Jones also brought familiar names into his set. R&B group 702 appeared for Get It Together, a song Jones wrote and produced during the 1990s.
Across the event, both singers leaned heavily on career-defining material. Joe performed songs including I Wanna Know, Stutter and Don’t Wanna Be a Player, while Jones highlighted selections from his own catalog. Audience voting during the battle largely favored Joe.
